Only Girl (in the World), Rihanna - New Music Video + Lyrics

Omg, love this new song by Rihanna. This song was written by Crystal Johnson, Stargate and Sandy Vee, and it was produced by Stargate. It has a funky interesting beat that is very 'in season' in music at the moment. It starts with the cool bass beat and builds up at the chorus with electrifying synthesising and awesome vocals from Rihanna which I haven't heard much before from her. This song would certainly get me going on the dance floor!
I also adore her outfits in this video. It's pretty, floral, sexy and feminine which is completely opposite the 'Hard' video she did last year. Although has a hint of rough edge chick that's in Rihanna's nature she has embraced the inner 'girl' inside her which is exactly what this song is about 'Only Girl (in the World)'. I also love the creative art direction and setting; it's simple and down-to-earth in my opinion. I particularly love her first outfit with the cream bustier, floral black skirt and heavy boots; and then her cream suspenders in the next outfit. Also at first I wasn't 'diggin'' her peroxide red hair, but she knows how to work it as a hot trend and I'm lovin' it on her.
I must admit, when she first came out with her 'Pon de Replay' song I kind of loathed it and was prepared to be set off Rihanna for a very long while however she has amazingly managed to transform herself from pretty girl-next-door to quirky rock chick trendsetter with equally great music over the past 2 years. She is definitely one of my fashion muses and I love her ever changing hairstyles.
This song is from her 'Loud' album which is due to be released November 12, 2010. Wikipedia states that the singles that will follow are "What's My Name?" and "S&M". This sounds rather exciting especially the latter song, a song about S&M? Can't wait until the video!

Best of Self-Portraits from DeviantArt Part I
I'm doing self-portrait features to tie in with my Graphics A level project at college. Thought I'd feature some great photography from DeviantArt.

Artist of the Week > Helmut Newton (NSFW)
So for for my A2 Photography my project I've chosen to do fashion/narrative photography using black/white film. We have to shoot in either 35mm or medium format and the latter for the final piece.
I chose to research one of my favourite photographers, Helmut Newton; a pioneer of fashion photography. I love how glamorous, sexy and feminine his shots were. Although he has shot many female nudes he still manages to keep the integrity of the female form intact and hasn't flaunted it in a sleazy manner. His signature black/white photographs often explores sexuality, erotica and fetishism which was were a mainstay of Vogue and many other publications. This ties into my project by how he manages to tell a story in every photograph which is very inspiring. He pushed fashion photography from the 50's/60's and today sex is incorporated a lot. For his time it was amazing to see such fresh, intuitive photography. I simply love black/white photography!
