Bristol Art Gallery

On the 27th July 2010 I went to Bristol with my lovely friends, Swebb and Marianne who wanted a style makeover; so retail therapy it was. Woke up bright and early and walked to the train station on 4 hours sleep, which wasn't the most chirpiest feeling, nevertheless, styling my friends and going to Bristol art gallery was definitely worth it.

Whilst on the train, I would say I had many double takes or 'evil's glanced at my attire for the day. I wore a low cut red 'Latin' dress with holey black tights from Topshop and brown gladiator sandals from New Look, which apparently was too revealing for the day. But clothes are made to be worn, so I say, 'To Hell With It!'. The dress was from Boohoo.com, see the dress here.

So we hit the shops in Cabot Circus where all the high street and designer shops were in Bristol. Went in Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Next, H&M, Burton, River Island, Primark, All Saints, La Senza and more. Managed to find a great outfit for Swebb and Marianne.

We quickly made our way up the monster of a hill, Park Street which wasn't fun if your feet were crumbling away however we eventually made our way to the art gallery. A great exhibition was on show; Art From the New World.

Photograph of the Day > Tony Ward by Richard Burbridge

Tony Ward by Richard Burbridge

I haven't posted 'Photograph of the Day' for like 5 days which is really bad, but I shall get back into the swing of things of daily posting! I was getting my daily feed of Homotography and came across this feature. The photo above reminded me of a time when I said to my friend Swebb, that he would look good in stockings so I had to feature this photo! The opposing juxtaposition of being a gentleman on the top half of his body, then a lady on the bottom half is amusing to see. Its's great how Burbridge still manages to keep his manly side yet reveal a quirky feminine side. Is it weird to say he looks better than me in heels and stockings?
This will be featured in the Fall 2010 issue of 10 Men.

Photograph of the Day > Pin Up Beach Girl by Hannah Aitchison

I came across this amazing image from my awesome friend Swebb who has really gotten me into tattoos. I copied this from Hannah Aitchison Facebook and she has an extraordinary tattoo gallery. I've recently been really interested by pin up tattoos and pin up/burlesque culture. I love the 20's-40's style of pin up girl as their hair and make up was always immaculate with pretty dresses and sexy lingerie; the embodiment of a beautiful woman. This particular tattoo has a magical, swashbuckling element with the pirate ship in the background and the beautiful blonde in the foreground with a cocktail. The attention to detail and vibrant colours certainly makes this tattoo like no other and Hannah's ability is amazing and world renowned. She has also featured on LA Ink, created by Kat Von D for seasons 1-2 and as her tattoo's are so sought after, there's a waiting list from 6 months- 2 years! She's certainly an exceptional talent.

Photograph of the Day > Made in Brazil by Cristiano Madureira

Made in Brazil by Cristiano Madureira

My good friend Swebb has recently gotten me more fascinated by tattoo's and body art. So I thought I'd feature today's photograph with a tattoo element. I was browsing through Homotography and searched for tattoos and came across this beautiful image. I love the model's muscular body and his relaxed expression despite his pose being tensed. The monochrome works well in this as it brings a calm effect even though tattoos often gets negative stigma and labels attached. Madureira manages to make the tattoos subtle yet sexy and of course a work of art. This photo was shot for for first issue of 'Made In Brazil Magazine'.

I'm an Official Stylist!

I'm really happy to say this as it seems that I'm official stylist to two of my friends! Apparently I know about fashion and that I know how to dress and they want my advice which is always good to know your opinion is valued! So I'm rather chuffed about that.

My friend Swebb, (http://swebbat.blogspot.com/) asked me if I could style him and change his look which I was very excited to hear. So we went shopping in Taunton and I managed to find some lovely clothes that suited him. As he is skinny and tall I had a clear idea of what would suit him plus I just had to get him into skinny jeans; he has the perfect body shape for it! I was tired of his baggy clothes that did nothing for his figure. Yes, guys should dress themselves with clothes that fit!

I decided to be his Gok Wan for the day and it paid off seeing that his friend, Ellen commented on how hot he looked and that he looked stylish which I was very proud of!

                        Before                                                *After

The next thing I have to do is sort out the hair. I believe that flat straight fringe needs some life and lift! Swebb agreed to me shooting him (photographically!) and I shall be posting some photos of his new style/look hopefully soon. The smart/casual style looks great on him! Let's hope he keeps his style!

*Skinny Jeans, Topman / Shoes, Topman / Shirt, Primark / Tie, Burton

So my next challenge is getting a new look for my friend, Marianne. She has a lovely figure but wants to have a new style makeover. As her body shape can go with many styles I shall be thinking away and trying on many outfits when we go shopping in Bristol! I shall blog about how it goes soon.

Comment on your opinions on Swebb's new look and what ideas you have for his hair style.
