Hurricane > 30 Seconds to Mars - New Music Video

EEK! New Music Video Alert! > Hurricane by 30 Seconds to Mars! I had found out about this video last Thurs night/Fri morning and was absolutely blown away by how amazing it was! I was even more excited about this video after watching all their preview material from their youtube channel, 30 Seconds to Mars and after seeing them live in Cardiff International Arena 2 weeks (OMG amazing!). I believe its the best video of this year, trumping Lady Gaga's monster music videos such as Telephone & Alejandro, Eminem's Love the Way You Lie and many others from the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West and Katy Perry.

WATCH IT NOW BELOW (CENSORED VERSION) IN HQ )720dpi).

I do not own any video copyright and I really hope I haven't breached any copyright laws!

I think this may be the longest music video of this decade let alone this year at a lengthy 13.00 minutes of sex, violence and topless Leto. :P Debuted at MTV.com this video certainly is controversial with the many scenes of S&M and bondage, secret fetishisms, violence with creepy guys in masks and religious connotations with a Rabbi, Imam and Priest throwing holy books into the fire. Exactly how did 30STM get away with it? Despite the many 'CENSORED' shots flashing across the screen in bold black and red there is still a lot of sex & violence which is exciting and in a way refreshing to see it not done in a sleezy manner. Bartholemew Cummins (writer and director aka Jared Leto) certainly knows how to story tell and open the viewer to a new unexplored fantasy. This video is ambitious, daring, enticing, provocative and simply brilliant! On jaredleto.com he states how various scenes had made the video explicit content and censored scenes. Check out the list here.

I think it's ridiculous how so much is cut out when on prime-time TV there are scenes of sexual nature and violence. One video that particularly comes to mind is Lady Gaga's Alejandro video where she is practically having 'dry' sex on a bed with gay guys and kind of having group sex in a nun's PVC outfit. Also videos from 50 Cent and other rappers have used many sexual videos with half naked ladies doing provocative gestures. In addition, Maroon 5's Misery video was fairly violent (this was altered for UK play with animation on top). I think the censorship board or whoever decides on what can be aired on TV should be less stingy and allow the creativity of storytelling. The censorship ruins the flow of the video and the very erotic scenes only flash for a second or less. It's not as if Jared Leto is shoving sex down your throat.

Anyway, after my rant on why so much is censored there are probably a lot of people who would disagree such as parents non sexual fanatics. This does exploit dark fantasies however the mind-blowing cinematography with CGI effects and an imaginative narrative of birth, life & death outweigh the controversies associated with this explosive music video that is HURRICANE! :D

Bordelle go S&M in SS 11 Collection

Only just heard of Bordelle a few yesterday and got excited at their awesome SS 11 collection. I especially love their black 'bondage' inspired corselet dress below with the gold spikes and buckles. Very sexy indeed. I love how throughout their collections they keep to their 'strap' theme and can instantly recognize what Bordelle lingerie is. Its innovative, provocative and would make any woman feel confident and super sexy. If only I had the money to splash, I would certainly get some Bordelle in my wardrobe! :P

Artist of the Week > Helmut Newton (NSFW)

So for for my A2 Photography my project I've chosen to do fashion/narrative photography using black/white film. We have to shoot in either 35mm or medium format and the latter for the final piece.

I chose to research one of my favourite photographers, Helmut Newton; a pioneer of fashion photography. I love how glamorous, sexy and feminine his shots were. Although he has shot many female nudes he still manages to keep the integrity of the female form intact and hasn't flaunted it in a sleazy manner. His signature black/white photographs often explores sexuality, erotica and fetishism which was were a mainstay of Vogue and many other publications. This ties into my project by how he manages to tell a story in every photograph which is very inspiring. He pushed fashion photography from the 50's/60's and today sex is incorporated a lot. For his time it was amazing to see such fresh, intuitive photography. I simply love black/white photography!

The Naked Violence by Mert & Marcus ft. Naomi Campbell

So I had posted this entry before however I accidentally deleted this, so I'm posting again. :(
I love these photos by talented duo, Mert & Marcus of Naomi Campbell. I'm not too keen on Campbell however she looks stunning here. The storyline is also very intriguing, brutal yet strangely sexy. This is something you would see from Steven Klein however M&M have embraced sex & violence into fashion. The concept was Russian-Mafia inspired and you can see positions of torture but also sensuality. Like the photo below, a naked bloody man looks like his neck is dislocated but between Campbell's legs. The setting is also amazing and the dark teal/turquoise tones adds to the atmosphere. The angles are very interesting and would be one of the best editorials from Interview Magazine this year.

Sexy Mannequin Shots of Megan Fox by Craig McDean

Not your typical fashion shoot! But when is great fashion photography ever typical!? These awesome shots of Megan Fox by amazing photographer Craig McDean are certainly captivating, sexy and demands your attention. Fox oozes sex appeal and wasn't hard to capture this side to her however Craig McDean adds an interesting narrative to this which makes these images more than photos you'd gaze upon in awe.

Her expression is angelic yet sultry; how does she do this!?!

Watch the short video to this editorial by Craig McDean, music by Charlotte Gainsbourg, for Interview Magazine.

I love this shoot especially photo below. Megan Fox certainly looks sexy here, but two Mrs Foxs is double the fun. Although this may be a playful, sensual image there is an underlying message to this; confrontation with oneself and facing up to 'who you are'. She holds the mannequin's replica of her own face with force and anger however there is sexual tension? Also the mannequin's wrists has chains on holding black rubber gloves suggesting a BDSM element. intensifying the sexual content.

The dominatrix jet black bob, porcelain skin and luscious red lips makes this shoot charged with sexual energy.

She's spooning herself!?!

And straddling herself!?!

This shoot uses a lot of underlying sexual content!

Plays on vanity; does she love or hate herself?

Is she secretly obsessed with herself. She holds her own hand as if she needs comfort or longing lust.

She goes on top and blindfolds herself!?!

I love the styling, fashion and make up. This is one of the best Interview editorials I've seen. Shot for June/July 2010 issue.
